Though we have said you need not be a crossword buff to crack this event, you would still be better off learning the standard tricks of a cryptic clue. Most of the clues we list, will have part of the clue giving the technical meaning of the word, and the other part will help u crack the clue, without any knowledge of the technical meaning at all!

Welcome to the flagship event of Vision’08. A saga of epic proportions is waiting to unfold on 14th of March, where the coding geeks from all departments will match wits and race against time in three forms of ECE coding. This event is designed to give the interested coders a day full of pure and uninterrupted coding fun, if they go the whole way, and a shot at the title, TOPCODERZ of VISION ’08.

CITIUS

We start off with MATLAB coding. MATLAB, as we all know is an amazing tool, an ocean of built -in functions. The questions will test the programmer’s creativity in approaching the problem and not much command knowledge is necessary affirms M.SHYAM, the event coordinator.

P.S. – The events team is also trying to filch Shyam’s 991 ES calculator to give as an additional prize for the winner of this event!

This event spans the whole range of topics from the basics of digital electronics and system design to the higher concepts of HDL programming in this event. VLSI enthusiasts may find this event food for thought, and is expected to interest the post-graduate students also. And with BALAJI V and especially with LAKSHMINARASIMHAN part of the coordinating team, you will be justified in asking why wasn’t this event associated with FORTIUS rather than ALTIUS!

Topcoderz – HDL at Vivekananda Auditorium 12 15 PM

FORTIUS
Assembly language programmers have to face one of the strongest coders in this event’s coordinators VAIRAMUTHU and VIVEK. Vaira’s MuP classes are almost legendary in hostel and there is an orkut community dedicated to our own assembly language-poet. And Vivek is no pushover, known to pull his weight in all things technical and “ECE”. So Fortius is justifiably reserved for the assembly language event.

And as a final word, we may add that the finalists if selected, in all three, will have a whole afternoon of non-stop coding, from which will emerge the champion of champions, the cumulative winning team being crowned the TOPCODERZ of VISION ’08.

A Sneak-Peek into the world of a few crazy people working fervently to unleash the crazYness within you…

lets start with the president of ECEA, the good ol’ warhorse Ramprakasam…. true to his nickname he has been running all the way from November… he has his footprint in every committee under the sun (maybe under the moon [:)] most of our activities are nocturnal)…he has been so busy these days that he is having a double for him to attend his calls.. But whatever the crisis may be, one can find him before the TV from 8 to 8 30 every night…

Coming to the Smiling Buddha of ECEA, our VP smartttbalu(that’s what he calls himself)… one can very well guess why he is called the Smiling Buddha.. His lips extend till his ears when he smiles (not to mention his height which matches exactly with that of the legendary Smiling Buddha as estimated by the Mongolian historians) and he brings the lucky charm of the Buddha…that’s why he is heading the sponsors team…nobody exactly knows how he charms the industry guys but lately he has been repeatedly saying the same dialogue whenever any cell phone starts ringing within a proximity of 50 mts, “Hello, this is Balakumaran from Anna University. We are conducting a national level….”

Next comes the Treasurer Mr. Satheesh. Vision is just one of the many obligations of this elusive banker. This guy holds a portfolio in almost all the student bodies of CEG… Finding him is very tough…but when the need arises he comes like a UN Aircraft dropping Food packages for refugees and disappears once the cause is served…

Secretary no.1 Lakshmi Narasimman…He matches every condition of a Smiling Buddha except for his height…he is a tad too tall for it.. But he has one striking similarity with the Smiling Buddha and the TN Police that makes him a bounty hunter.

Secretary no.2 Nazreen M.B.A (Most Belligerent Articulator) – A visionary herself, she has been busy scuttling between Chennai and Bangalore to fulfill her own vision…

After a brief hiatus, they are back in action… Thanks to our Dean… Ever since he banned sports in Tech symposiums (‘what do sports have to do in tech symposiums?’ the Dean had questioned earlier…) they have been breaking their heads to find ways to make GAMINDROME pertinent to a tech symposium?!?

This is probably the only team that works without much ado and confusion (in spite of the President being a part of it)… Kudos guys!!
