Down Across

What do u mean by ECE vocabulary?? I dont remember what i studied for my last assessment even!”. Even then, this event is still for YOU.

Though we have said you need not be a crossword buff to crack this event, you would still be better off learning the standard tricks of a cryptic clue. Most of the clues we list, will have part of the clue giving the technical meaning of the word, and the other part will help u crack the clue, without any knowledge of the technical meaning at all!

So even first year ECEians, who have just got into the department subjects and even non- ECEians, can get the grid filled in quick time by knowing some of the standard rules of cryptic crosswords.

Read on to get a headstart for the prelims…

Anagrams
Read between the lines

And look out for a mix of these techniques as well!

“Down Across” on 14th March at Vivekananda Auditorium 02 15 PM. Meet you there!

Imagine this situation… The third world war is on the roll(that isn’t quite the tone to mourn, but still.. all is fair in love and war)… The whole world has been destroyed by nukes, bio-weapons and ‘whatever-you-can-think-of’WMDs.. Every soul that walks this beautiful planet is killed in this actus reus.. But there is a bunker somewhere in Area52(Oh! come on guys, Area51 is already crowded with disfigured aliens and military garbage) which can withstand any attack…It can accomodate only one person and a PC.. somehow the American President thinks you are a better candidate than anyone else, to be saved and put in that bunker.. So here you end up all alone with a PC that doesn’t boot and has two keys missing in the keyboard…Alt and Delete… What will you possibly do?..How much time can you flirt with this stupid PC?
If you have the answer, then rush to Comp Geeks@Vision’08… This is the event for guys who constantly fiddle with Operating Systems, cyberspace,etc.,..for guys who can make their computer behave as though it has had marijuana lately..for guys who can hypnotise their PCs to do anything.. Well guys, Sci-fi never got better!!

Top coderz

Welcome to the flagship event of Vision’08. A saga of epic proportions is waiting to unfold on 14th of March, where the coding geeks from all departments will match wits and race against time in three forms of ECE coding. This event is designed to give the interested coders a day full of pure and uninterrupted coding fun, if they go the whole way, and a shot at the title, TOPCODERZ of VISION ‘08.

CITIUS

We start off with MATLAB coding. MATLAB, as we all know is an amazing tool, an ocean of built -in functions. The questions will test the programmer’s creativity in approaching the problem and not much command knowledge is necessary affirms M.SHYAM, the event coordinator.

P.S. – The events team is also trying to filch Shyam’s 991 ES calculator to give as an additional prize for the winner of this event!

Be there!
Topcoderz – MATLAB at Vivekananda Auditorium 10 45 AM

ALTIUS
This event spans the whole range of topics from the basics of digital electronics and system design to the higher concepts of HDL programming in this event. VLSI enthusiasts may find this event food for thought, and is expected to interest the post-graduate students also. And with BALAJI V and especially with LAKSHMINARASIMHAN part of the coordinating team, you will be justified in asking why wasn’t this event associated with FORTIUS rather than ALTIUS!

Topcoderz – HDL at Vivekananda Auditorium 12 15 PM

FORTIUS
Assembly language programmers have to face one of the strongest coders in this event’s coordinators VAIRAMUTHU and VIVEK. Vaira’s MuP classes are almost legendary in hostel and there is an orkut community dedicated to our own assembly language-poet. And Vivek is no pushover, known to pull his weight in all things technical and “ECE”. So Fortius is justifiably reserved for the assembly language event.

Topcoderz – Microprocessor at Vivekananda Auditorium 1 30 PM.

And as a final word, we may add that the finalists if selected, in all three, will have a whole afternoon of non-stop coding, from which will emerge the champion of champions, the cumulative winning team being crowned the TOPCODERZ of VISION ‘08.

The Q Factor of Vision’08

Filed under: Events — nallas @ 12:10 pm

Do u have the Q-Factor?
Dont know?
Well try answering this Question..
In 1839, X introduced a new kind of tax for those who export Castor Oil in the country Y, just because that castor oil tastes sour. because of this unprecedented duty , export of castor oil fell drastically. As domestic demand was not able to keep up with the supply, Prices spiraled down so much that one can get a thousand tonnes of oil for just $1 in 1840. the situation was expected to reverse when importers come in terms with the rise due to the tax. But it didnt happen. To save the millions of Farmers cultivating castor oil Z, the then Commerce minister of the Country started a regulatory authority A which now we all popularly know as B.

Identify X,Y,Z,A,B?*
If you think you can answer this Question, u surely have the Q factor in you?

freak Out Quiz Fanatics! For the biggest Quizzing Events of CEG is Back. Be it the ‘who is who’, ‘what is what’trivia of the General Quiz or the intriguing muses of ‘How is that’ , which accompanies How Stuff Works, Vision ‘08 brings every flavour of Quizzing factor…
But wait there is more.. This time the team has worked hard to bring a quizzing event for those who are not so adept at remembering names, dates or not so wacky enough to cook up answer instantly for how ‘what-the-hell-are-they?’stuffs work, but still may know a lot about the stuff they have been reading for years in their academics… Yes! here , finally is an Event where trivia and fundas about Signals, Communication and Networking matter much more than a dd/mm/yy or a distantly familiar name or even the complex circuits which usually confounds a Electronic student in any other Symposium…That’s Comm Inc., the ultimate Quizzing event for any Communication engineer.
What are u waiting for? All Roads lead to Vision’08!!
